OUCH!! Stitches out!

Ok.. today we had a visit to Gillian's regular pediatrician, and since it's been about 5 days since the chest tubes came out, they wanted to take out the stitches. She had 3 chest tubes, and the first two seemed ok. Not fun, a little scarey, painful and uncomfortable for a bit, but the third one was tied really tight and the knot was way up almost under the skin. It hurt Gillian pretty bad just trying to see if it was possible to even get under the knot. Gill's pedi called the surgical center to see if they would be better prepared to take the stitch out.
They put some cream on the stitch site to numb the area. The Dr. in the surgical center also gave Gillian the option of trying with only the numbing cream to see if he could get to the stitch, or try injecting a little novacaine at the stitch site. As much as Gillian doesn't like needles, it was pretty small, and the site was numbed already.

Well she got some real quick pokes ("How many times are you going to poke me??"), the Dr. was able to get to the stitch very quickly and get it out. Gillian even said that was better than the first two!

Ok... so now we've been trying to get ready for the reception party, and thank you to Mary for getting me extra supplies today, including the pop-up shade tent. And Neal for extra tables and chairs.

Looking forward to seeing everyone... if you haven't let me know, and you plan on coming, please shoot me an email just so I can keep numbers and know who/how many!

Thanks and see ya tomorrow (or today if you are reading this on Sat!).
